No model, no short poses, this will come, had my first model session in years last Friday, still have to photograph the sketches, in the meantime a rather nebuleous model, no short pose, a lenghty one, probably more in term of billions years…so all the time needed to render the pose, no rush….

Wow 😍
Merci! Thank you!
This looks difficult to paint even though there is not a defined picture. Am I right? Pardon my ignorance about art but it looks like those squiggly lines are hard to do!
This one is made drawing with a digital brush using photoshop, much like painting on canvas, but drawing with the pen on a digital tablet, I could cheat by having the picture on a layer behing it and tracing, but I prefer working by hand and looking at the pic much like I do on a canvas, but yes it is not easy, sketching is not that hard, the difficulty is more balancing colors, but it is not much different than painting on canvas, one definite advantage is that I can superpose layers to conserve what I did on previous strokes, but still it is some different habits to acquire, not always evident if I do work on the right layer, not a problem I have when working on canvas…of course one of the main advantage is that if I dont like it, I can start over a saved version…which is another way to cheat…but I don’t do it often, I prefer keeping many versions like I do on others works using models, here too I have a model, a photo from NASA photo bank, I posted it in a previous post, but in the next one I will post it again. Well my answer is a bit long, hope I did not get lost trying to talk about it, often I do and that I did shed some light, like those stars and nebulae gases, and yes I am crazy about astronomy…:D
I should add too that this model of stylus or digital pen, associated with settings in Photoshop do permit to have a stroke that vary in pressure applied and the overlay of ‘paint’ so it will change size and opacity of digital paint, much like working with a real brush, not quite the same, but amazingly near.
It sounds very complicated working with layers. I used to work on Photoshop and Illustrator and layers were hard for me to balance. Glad you didn’t always go the easy route. I think it’s more rewarding to work on something a bit more challenging each time. Your skill grows too, I’m sure. You should paint more astronomy stuff too.
Thank you, yes I intend to, like also I did a few sketches using my own photos, eitheir when working up North many years ago, maybe my background using Autocad and others illustration software in my previous jobs do help me, but still sometimes I do get carried away and I am not always working the way I should, and working with Photoshop is much less intuitive than working on paper or canvas, I guess the only thing limiting me is time available…like for everybody I guess..:D Thanks for your comments and appreciating, it is always warming knowing some peoples appreciate, I am not commenting often but your garden pics are very nice to look at, I am so bad with flowers and plants…but I have access to my good friend and neighbourg garden to enjoy them..I know how much work you have to put to have a nice garden, and your photos are a gift to the eye, thanks!
Thank you so much for your words of appreciation. That made my day!
Love this, JMR!
You have a sublime feel for the abstract. xx
Thank you, I work with multiple layers, a bit difficult to make sure I am on the one I want, but getting there, and love the effects, lot of work but lot of fun too 🙂
Fabulous work.
Your abstracts would sell well at a traditional show, I’m sure!
You need a patron!
