Still can’t really get going these days, but did took a few steps to try to pull out of this hole, artistictly speaking…., so to get moving, I did took another life model drawing sesson this spring, I guess it would be time also to show some of the latest works of these life model drawing session, been to long I did that…second I finished another painting, Paulina, and most important, I did find a very comprehensive art gallery director who’s willing to show my entire collection of works!….negociations went very well, since that director is ME…:D. An exhibition of my things at home is a good way to shake up things as well, and my appartment do need a big, very big clean up, an exhibition is a very good incentive to de that…do if by any chance you’re in the Montreal area on april 27 and 28, write to me to get the details; and by the way if you come but later, since the painting will stay put on the walls until the next one, in a few months, or years , it is always possible to take arrangment for a visit…:), email me at jmrart3@gmail.com

So, here’s the final version, yes at one moment it has to be finished…of Paulina Porizkova.

Still quite or almost idle painting wise….slow getting in like the spring here this year, supposed to arrive, but it is making itself wanted….and another week-end that went just like that, like a brief wind, which by the way is the case here today…but finally manage to work a bit on this oil painting, Paulina, ready to be signed, probably, but as you may know, I do not tend to make that decision just walking off working on it, a few hours of looking back, maybe days will go before I decide if it is finished or just another version…:)

There’s a follow up on this painting started on saturday, kept working on it most of the day, sumday, of course that meant that I did not do any of the things I should normaly do to start the week…no grocery, no dishes, let everything there, just concerning myself with the important thing…painting.

And I must say that so far I’m quite please with the way this painting is going, seems that everything just felt in the right place, no messing around, and  I wonder if I will not sign it, maybe it is already finished, will see…

And the slideshow of these two days spent painting…

Still went a few days telling myself, paint, do something, finally came around yesterday, and often, when I’m stucked, I go for one of my favorite ‘muse’, Liz Hurley, great model, actress, ok maybe not one of the best actress…but a very good looking one, and I like her…so in this one she’s wearing an outfit from a film with Mike Myers, better known as Austin Powers, maybe I could figure as the evil doctor or painter in this case…:), trying to capture…her beauty…:)

I have more pictures to prepare, today’s painting session, but here’s a photo of where this painting was last night, and a slideshow, showing the very few first steps, and why not, a picture of Liz…

Very quiet these days, it will pass, dont know when, but it will….in the meantime, here’s an old goodie, not from the back of my workshop, it is now hanging on the wall of one of my brothers appartment wall…Sophie Marceau, painted in 2005, started in ???….:)))

Sophie Marceau, huile 24×30, 2005

A few days almost weeks without painting or drawing, for all kind of reasons, work, going out…or else, or just plainly sitting there doing nothing and telling myself…draw, paint something…so that night I started late, using watercolor pencils, old, decdes old, not used often, on watercolor paper more suited for quick sketch than finished work..and then I went for my old watercolor paint, got a bit better, but since I’m a bit ‘brouillon’ not to well prepared for watercolors, the paper went bucking, and all kind of thing were not going quite the way I wanted…

So I added a bit, and more and more acrylic paint…to correct some of those early drawing mistakes…many…it did improve, but I was still not so happy with the result, although I like the feeling of the pose, I guess there always something good in any works of art…at least that what I’m telling myself…

Then try to cover the whole thing with glazing medium, to give a more brillant look to acrylic paint, and in prevision to work more on it…did not take another picture of this, the one below was just before, but I should have know that watercolor paint can be pick off by water or glazing…so a bit of paint lifted off here and there, will have to see what I will do with this ‘try out’…or maybe a pastel, dry pastel would be just fine….

I was eager to work on this painting, most of the time I try to respect an order to work on my paintings and pastels, like a ‘chaîne de montage’…much earlier I wasn’t doing that, and some painting would be left there, not because they weren’t good, just I did prefer working on another, or I would start so many works at the same time, I could barely finish one of five…so for years now, I’m doing that, so I was patient…and so far I’m quite please with the way it started, still lot of work to come, I’m still in the early stages where I’m placing shapes and arranging composition and lights, but so far it is going nice…I think…

Two more versions, started to define a bit more the background, but still need working on her pose, did not get her legs crossing, it is getting there, though still lot of work to do, actually more fun to have painting….:)

Seems I’m in a ‘terninator’ mood these weeks, I must admit that most of my ‘in progress’ works are pretty close or actually finished, ready to be signed…so here’s the latest one, a pastel figuring Alicia Silverstone

But there were of course previous versions I worked on yesterday…here two versions, not quite finished then, the background is more colorful and texture, maybe a bit too much. Worked on her face, dress and hair too..

I was torned off between having a colorful, textured background or a much more subtile one, I did go for a smoother version, but addind colors and textures to her dress, face and hair…so here’s the very final versions…signed, yes I know it was signed before, but these were preliminary signatures…the last one is the final one, the diffierence? I guess I’m the only one who know it…:)

La version finale est en début d’article…The latest version is at the post’s beginning….

It always the kind of way I’m feeling when I try to get back on track a painting that went a bit off, like the Kristen’s one….fixing a few things here and there, correcting, adding, taking away others….Finally I think it is coming back, I like the background, even if I’m still unsure what I will do with it, still in a changing mode, and finallly seems that her face and body are getting right, love her dress and the playing of foldings and colors, so I guess I’m feeling quite happy witb the way it is going, even if it is still far from finish….

Les deux dernières versions/the latest two versions….

I sometimes mentioned that things went sideway, not to say bad with a painting, and most of the time, I do not take many photos, often waiting to get back on track…so here’s one of these moments, but before the previous version of this painting, been a while…

But of course I think I will be able to improve this painting, I would even say that more than often these ‘dérapages’ sliding away, add something to my painting, I mean besides lot of time to repair it…more like unexpected handling and others things, in this case I want to play more with the contrast and the very strange light of this painting, which I had pretty good in the early stages with acrylic, than decided to go for oils, more subtle in colors and folds of her dress, and lot of problem getting her pose right…so difficult times ahead…

Well it is definitely be a long one, seems I’m almost trying to do two paintings in this one…a more abstract one, playing with the strange light, shapes, contrast, like when it did started as an acrylic…and the other much more subtle, colors moving one into another, folds of her dress and some softness I’m trying to get painting this model….and the pose is still giving me all kind of troubles….it will be a long one….
