No, I am not writing about me, but rather this lonely wolf on the photo, that photo was taken during a  trip around the station, to the dump exactly, not the  most beautiful site, but wolves living nearby the station, love it, especially the cook had to trow out to the garbage, old weak muskox could be a feast for them , but not easy to find, the garbage from the station kitchen were much more appreciated…

But it is not entirely true, he is alone on this pic, but his buddies aren’t far away, on a next photo will see…

There is many bikes in Amsterdam, many are unlocked, it seems to me, in Montreal, leaving a bicycle unlocked is a sure recipe for finding yourself without a ‘vélo’, maybe not a 100 % sure but you are pushing your luck very far if you do…but in this case, no sweat, a cat is watching them, and he seems to be looking at a possible offender, or maybe it is just another cat or a bird….

Interdit de peindre?…Painting not allowed?…

I did not think of this interpretation of this road sign, a large P, covered by a large red line, seems to me it’s been the case the last few weeks, not very productive painting wise, at least this ‘down’ time has been used to work on my negatives and slides scanning, which is something worthwhile…I think, and to me photography and painting are closely related, so tonight is back to my old friend, my brushes, and my models of course..and over the last few weeks I did some minor but welcome adjustments to my atelier, which make what was already quite pleasant , more cosy and comfortable…so I don’t know if it is back to painting on a more regular basis, but even when I am not painting, it is still very much on my mind, let’s say it is just a short stop on a long road…

Donc celle de ce soir…So tonight painting

Et je  pense qu’il est grandement temps de mettre du vert et d’enlever l’interdiction de peindre  / And maybe I should cover this red interdiction of painting in green and get rid of this crossing bar…photoshop maybe/peut-être

Vienne, une rue….A street in Vienna…

I could have corrected the perspective on this one, it is a bit, quite a bit tilted, but no, I’ve decided to let it as it is, and I can’t say there is something special about this photo, except that it was taken in a city where I could take endless walk anytime, the camera not too far away…..

Interdit aux P….P not allowed….

I wasn’t too sure what to write on this one, I know it is not an obligation…but I do it most of the time, and since I did not have the time to lunch today, it was a crazy day at the job, and tonight I was trying to get home trying not to listen to anything that could give away the result of Netherlands vs Argentina, I had it ‘taped’ or saved, so most of the day went and I had no time to post anything, so hence, that’s probably what this panel meant, no Post today , or Posting forbidden, first I though it meant no Pedestrian allowed or you cannot do a P turn here, do I have to tell you that I failed at driving testing a few times….:) but I must be a rebel, and I wont follow that regulation…I will at least post one thing…

As I did mentioned in a previous post, in Normandy, in fact in Cherbourg, I bought a bike, the first few weeks I did not covered much distance, probably the beautiful place, not to far away one from another, the charming peoples I met along the road, and the I finally got to Genêts, near Avranches, on the other side of the bay from Mont-Saint-Michel, which sometimes we could see from there. And then a fellow cyclist suggest that I do change my way of riding my bike, he said it would be much more easier to cover a greater distance….I guess a photo would illustrate much better what he told me to correct….

It was early July, in 1986…and since I stayed there a few weeks, leaving July 15, it could be the anniversary day today…28 years ago….young, at least younger, and crazy…some things stays the same….

Venise, Mickey Mouse? Mickey in Venice?

I though it was funny to find in the midst of all these typically Venitian souvenirs, a t-shirt with a Mickey Mouse on it, maybe there was once a story Mickey and Minnie in Venice or else, Mickey and Minnie romantically presented in a gondola, I don’t know, but I should not have been surprised, there was once a tavern, near my place, and inside you can see some large posters framed like a painting featuring Donald Duck and Daisy, advertising the place and a local beer brewery, these illustrations were showing them saying ‘Hey Daisy, let have a ‘grosse Molson’ at Donald Duck, yes it was the name of the place, tavern Donald Duck…so I guess we can find Disney almost anywhere, sometimes when you don’t expect it at all….

Dans la rue…In the street…

It is always fun to walk on a large street, closed to cars, this time it was for a peace march, held in Winnpeg, in May 1982. It is quite pleasant to walk down these streets, new perspectives are there to exploit for photography, I did like the view I was getting in this shot, the large street bordered by buildings, creating some kind of vanishing perspective, it was nice also to walk and knowing you did not have to care about cars, although I must say that in all English Canadian cities, car drivers do respect religiously the crossing passage for pedestrian, and in return the pedestrian won’t cross on a red light, or between two intersections, I came and live in Montreal, jaywalking is a way of life here, and sometimes dangerous, a battle…:) ok not that bad, but pedestrians, cyclists and drivers all think they are kings of the street…sometimes it can get hazardous to cross a street or a bike path…the first few weeks I got called by policemen on foot, late at night I was crossing a small, desert street on a red light…they probably though I was a tourist, they let me go without getting a ticket….:), so the picture.

Je pense que…I though I….

I though I saw a pussy cat…or is it another plane or superman flying to his secret hide away in the North or Santa? ok I guess it is a polar bear…or I just did not know what to write about this picture…I could have write, like I did in the french version, that he was dressed in yellow, but this is not like the farmer who tainted his sheep in yellow to honor the beginning or first stage of the Tour the France, starting in England this year, no so no Tweety bird, no cat, no yellow polar bear, just another of these long moment flying in-between weather stations over the Canadian Arctic, and my boss pointing in the window about something, there was always a few things able to get out of us some…Awh, Look at that, Have you seen that, we are landing…but where is the f….. airstrip?

La chose…The Thing…

There was some of those days, and up there they can last up to six months, or is it these days?, this is one of the English language fine detail I had and will never master I guess, but I am french so I guess this is ok…., so back to this day, that maybe, the only thing I could though is, ‘Kriss, faut que je parte d’icitte…’ translated from french quebecois as ‘put in the swear of your choice’ and … I got to get out of here….!!!!’ Honestly, thirty years later I can’t tell what was my mood on that day, maybe I just want to go away, or maybe I was thankful for being there and enjoying something very few people had the opportunity to live…or maybe you can imagine something similar to John Carpenter The Thing’ movie’s…and on that helicopter is a mad man trying to shoot a dog…but of course it is not a dog, just a dangerous polymorph extra-terrestrial entity escaping the station, but as an extraterrestrial being marooned on this planet for a while, I don’t think it is the case, at least it is not from a known species on my planet…:)

Eureka! Je sacre mon camp!…I’m leaving…1983-05-xx, #050-10_1983-05-xx-R
