Voilà quelques jours / a few days ago….

Il semble que j’avais oublié, ou du moins laissé de côté cette dernière version, qui date de quelques jours, à ce stade-ci où j’en suis avec ce pastel, la question de savoir s’il est terminé ou non est difficile à répondre, une question d’interprétation, la mienne, et ce matin je ne suis pas encore assez réveillé pour prendre une décision…s’il y a une autre version, vous connaîtrez la réponse, voici où il en est ce pastel.

Seems like I kind of left aside this last version of Carla’s pastel, done a few days ago, at this point, the question about is it finished or not, is a matter of interpretation, mine, and this morning I can’t tell, so I guess if you do see another version sometimes, you will then know the answer, as I will do….so the latest version of this pastel.

Non ce ne sera pas une nébuleuse finalement, pour le moment il y a un modèle, un peu nébuleux encore à ce stade-ci, mais qui émerge lentement de ce fond indéfini mais non stellaire…la photo…

Finally it won’t be a nebula, somehow a model find her way into this still rather nebulous background of pastel, so it is still nebulous but not of the stellar type, more of a fashion model type….the pic

Comment elle s’est retrouvé là….la photo était mal classée je présume…donc parmi mes photos de nébuleuses et autres objets un peu abstrait elle était là, je l’ai mis de côté et la voilà dans ce pastel…..évidemment j’aurais pu inventer une histoire, comme prétendre que je suis membre d’une association d’artistes qui dessinent ou peignent des nébuleuses, et qu’un des règlements de cette association est l’interdiction d’avoir en cours plus de deux tableaux ou pastels de nébuleuses, ce qui avait été voté à l’unanimité lors de notre dernière assemblée générale, mais comme je serais probablement le seul membre, il m’aurait fallu présenter le règlement, le seconder, et le vote aurait été unanime, l’avantage d’être le seul membre de cette association, mais comme je n’ai pas besoin d’histoires à raconter pour cela…je vais plutôt montrer la photo du modèle…

How did she find herself there…I was looking through some nebula photo files and found this pic there, misplaced I guess, in the middle of these rather nebulous or abstract objects, so that’s why a model is emerging from this nebulous background of pastel…actually I should have invented a better story to make a better post, like saying that I am a member of a local association of nebula artists, and that one of the by-law stated that you can’t have more than two works in progress of nebula, and since it would have been a third one for me, I have to change the subject to respect this rule, that was adopted unanimously at our last association meeting, since I would probably be the only member of this association, and I would had to propose, second and vote this by-law, easy to have an unanimous vote when you’re the only member…but instead I will just post her photo…

Bizarre…a bit strange…

Pendant des années, voire des décennies, je n’ai eu pratiquement comme sujet de peinture ou dessin, de jolies modèles portant des bottes…j’en fais encore, mais il semble que dernièrement, soit sous l’effet de la photo ou de mes anciennes amours comme l’astronomie, je travaille différemment, le pastel de Carla allait bien mais j’avais besoin de changer…une version à jour viendra dans un prochain article…j’aurais voulu vous en présenter de ce nouveau pastel, mais il est déjà tard, donc je me contenterai de présenter la première ébauche de ce nouveau pastel, une autre nébuleuse….

Funny, in fact a bit strange, for years, decennies even, I’ve been painting and drawing almost exclusively beautiful models, wearing boots, fashion type art, but recently I guess some old influence are coming back, photography, astronomy and somehow this is shaping differently what I am doing as art, a permanent change, who knows, of course I still have a lot of old works going on, like Carla pastel, reworked, but it is late and it will be shown in another post, but at one point I did need some change, and started a new pastel…another nebula, ny new dada? I don’t know, but as I said I just have time to prepare that only pic, the very first traces of pastel, not much, more to come in the next few days, as more photos, and Carla

Il me semble qu’Il y a une éternité que je n’ai pas touché à mes pinceaux ou mes pastels…voilà c’est fait je les ai touchés….mes pastels, qui eux ont touché Carla….qui elle se retrouve maintenant dans cet article…donc une nouvelle version de ce pastel…

Seems to me it’s been an eternity I haven’t touch my pastels, or my brushes…now, it is done, I touched them, my pastels, and in turn they touched this Pastel painting of Carla, and her or her portrait in pastel is just here, down below…the latest version….

Pastel, boutique et Carla….

Bon, bien travaillé sur ma boutique, tellement de choses sont à peaufiner, et franchement je n’ai aucune idée comment présenter cet aspect ‘marketing’ et vendeur de art…Je ne cherche pas à en vivre, je sais que c’est pratiquement impossible, aussi j’essaie de trouver des manières différentes de générer un peu de revenus, question de couvrir les dépenses, donc j’ai mis-à-jour la présentation de la section BOUTIQUE de mon site, vous y verrez l’approche que je veux développer, entre autres en mettant en vente les versions hautes résolutions de mes fichiers soit photos, ou tableaux et pastels, même les versions intermédiaires qui je le sais, parfois elles plaisent énormément, donc je n’anticipe pas faire fortune…mais au moins générer quelques revenus, probablement, sûrement insuffisant pour prendre ma retraite, mais peut-être éventuellement, couper une journée de travail….les œuvres qui y sont maintenant, bien peu mais il y en aura d’autres, et je suis ouvert à toutes suggestions et commentaires…vous pouvez aussi lire la page boutique-informations pour plus de détails

Well did lot of work on my shop, my BOUTIQUE on my site, and frankly I am not that good at marketing, and somehow, let’s stay firmly on the ground, I know I cannot expect to earn a living with my art, but maybe I could generate a bit of revenu, maybe even enough so one day I could cut one day a week from my regular job…I did some thinking, of course the originals works, eitheir paintings, pastels or reproduction of artwork and photograph are offered, but I though that maybe I could offer high resolution files of my photos and artwork, even the intermediate stages, I know that often my early paintings stages are well liked, so I will put some on my page, right now I have very little but as mentionned elsewhere there will be more, and I more than open to any suggestions, comments, and of course If you would like to see something in particular posted in there, please let me know, you can also look this page boutique-informations for more details on what is offered

Et finalement entre l’installation des climatiseurs, le travail sur mes sites, mes numérisations et travail requis sur photoshop, il me semble que j’ai bien peu peint ou pastellisé…donc Carla…la dernière version

And finally besides installing the air conditionners, working on selling my things, scanning and do the required corrections in photoshop, seems to me I did almost no painting or pastel…so I guess it is time now for some pastel and Carla…

Comme je le mentionnais dans l’article précédent, avant que je ne m’évade vers Orion, non pas pour évasion fiscale, mais plutôt pour me changer les idées et sortir tous ces chiffres de ma tête, très encombrant et assommant ces déclarations d’impôts, eh bien j’avais retravaillé brièvement le pastel de Carla, pas encore tout-à-fait à mon goût, mais je crois que j’y suis presque, ce moment où je le signerai…en attendant la dernière version et le diaporama

As mentionned in the last post, before taking away for Orion, not to evade the Taxman, but just to try to clear my head of all those numbers I had to compile for those return forms, I did work a bit on this pastel of Carla Brown, it is still not quite to my liking, not much missing, but to me, there is still something lacking, it should not be too long to fix, I think….so in the meantime here’s the latest version and as usual the slideshow, as for Carla’s pic, if you go two posts before, you will find her…

Et pour la suite du pastel inspiré de la nébuleuse d’Orion, probablement demain et j’ai aussi retravaillé ce tableau de ce modèle, parfois songeuse, parfois souriante, et qui sourit de plus en plus, moi aussi, peut-être suffisamment pour dire que ce tableau est terminé, mais cela on verra si c’est le cas.

And next, there will be a follow up on this pastel, inspired by the Orion’s Nebulae, and on top of that I did reworked this painting featuring a sometimes smiling or pondering model, now she’s more smiley than pondering, and maybe me too, I am smiling, I always does when I think that the end of a painting is almost there…just lacking a few final touches and a signature…but for now, it is still to be decided…

Le temps des impôts….

Je croyais bien naïvement avoir beaucoup de temps à consacrer à la peinture et au dessin dans ce long congé, tout en faisant mes impôts, faut dire que j’avais deux années à faire, donc finalement pas mal moins de temps pour l’art, et beaucoup plus pour apaiser les ministères fédéral et provincial du revenu…au moins je suis à jour, pour la première fois depuis des années, enfin presque, il reste à les mettre au propre…j’ai jusqu’au 30, enfin pour celui de cette année, donc peu de temps passé à l’art, donc comme c’est souvent le cas lorsque je manque de temps, je me suis réfugié derrière mes pastels et au devant de Carla, oui encore une fois…la prochaine fois je passerai à une autre, promis.

I though I could manage, besides filling my income tax reports, finding some time for painting, drawing, something a lot more fun than contenting the Taxman, well did not found much time for fun, at least for the first time in close to a decade, I will be in time for submitting these things, I had two years to do, so at least this is done, or almost, just have to rewrite them neatly, just did the draft, but I do have until the 30 th…so now time for some pastel, and since I am short on time, and Carla is still on the easel, and my pastels, then I went for the easy way…next time there will be another one, sometimes I will have finish this painting or move to something else, but not today…

Mais la photo attendra…but the picture will wait

J’ai plutôt décidé de donner suite à une idée qui me trotte depuis un certain temps dans la tête, m’inspirer de photo de paysage, paysage sidéraux…pour faire différent, me sortir de ma zone de confort…
I have decided to go ahead with an idea that is been in my mind for a while, a landscape, but more of an outer space landscape, why stay here, may as well explore, and get out of my confort zone…

Rien comme le pastel!

Toutes sortes de petites choses qui font que de ce temps-ci, je ne parviens pas à trouver le temps de peindre….dans ces moments là, c’est souvent le pastel qui m’aide à reprendre l’élan, peut-être parce qu’il n’y a rien à préparer, et que c’est rapide, et comme il y avait toujours le pastel de Carla, je ne me suis pas posé trop de questions…seulement commencé à dessiner, enfin peindre, finalement le pastel et Carla, ça fait un bien beau mélange…et peut-être que je me remettrai à peindre plus régulièrement…mais cela c’est plutôt imprévisible.

All kind of things had the way of preventing me from painting, and sometimes after a few days I feel like I’m getting stuck, difficult to get going again, and when this happen, more than often, working with pastels seems to be the solution, the trick to get going, maybe because you don’t have to set up anything at all, simple, you just pick them up and draw, or paint, and since Carla»’s pastel was still on the easel, then I just kept working on this one, pastel and Carla are a good recipe for start moving again…maybe, I guess it is kind of unpredictable.
