Humour arctique….Arctic Humour…

Don’t wait too long at this railroad crossing rigth in the middle of nowhere, actually close to the landing strip in Eureka, Nunavut, of course don’t look to book a trip by train to go upthere….:) it is more like one of the  numerous pranks, or familiar southern objects that are implemented here and there up north, a way to laugh about the remoteness of these arctic stations I guess…:)

Oui, j’ai été à Cologne…Yes, I went to Cologne…

And of course I did photographed the well knowned and very tall Cologne »s Cathedral…difficult to capture this magnificient church in his totality….so the two steples in perspective and black and white…

Usually I am not a big fan of going in big show, march or any type of organised event, but during my time in Winnipeg I did like to go, taking my camera with me. Most of these events reach a wide audience, either in style or age, here it was during a show in front of the Manitoba Parliament Building, after a peace walk that has brought together all kind of peoples.

Mis à l’écart…Cast away

http://jmro-art.net/2014/10/11/tritesse-sorrowful/

What is the relation between this photo of an husky dog and the title you may ask yourself, if you saw and remember a previous post you know, the link to this post, in short this dog was the ancient leader of the pack, his partner died, and he was sort of cast away by the rest of the pack, so it was always following us, maybe he wanted to be with us, or looking for our protection or simply staying as far as possible from the others dogs who were mean to him. I like this pic, I found it beautiful even if the situation wasn’t… You may also wonder what is this funny stuff on the wall, it is an insulation material sprayed on the building, polyurethane foam, normally it is a pale yellow, but when left exposed without covering material, the sun made it turn to a dark orange color.

Munich…une autre / Munich…one more…

Still a few black and white pictures to present of Munich, this is about an angel just about ready to fly away, but as we know, generally stone angels are usually kind of stuck here with us, this one resting firmly on a pedestal, his stone feets well anchored in this monument, and he can’t do a thing about it, even having wings, stone wings must I precise…

Iceberg droit devant!….Iceberg…Straigh Ahead…

Of course they did not ‘meet’, both went their way, at least for the helicopter, who kept flying, and the helico occupants were probably quite happy with that, as for the iceberg, eventually it will follow its journey but not before a few months, in the meantime it did stayed stuck in the ice….

Sais vraiment pas…Really don’t know what happened…

Sometimes I do stumble upon a few strange photos in my old stuff…like this one, can’t quite remember or know what happened here, seems the film did not advance and I did get a superposition of two exposures, I think, while I was trying to take some pictures at night without a tripod, so some blurred scenes from downtown Winnipeg, or maybe it was coming home very late and I had a few too many beers and I was thinking…let’s see what will happen if I try this…a bit stange, but I do like it at the same time…

Renard tache…Fuzzy Fox…

I wish this fox, sitting on this snow bank top would look more like a fox and less like some fuzzy spot on my picture, so I guess you will have to take my word on this one and believe it is an arctic fox and not just some blurry fuzzy spot on my slide…I guess my scanner do have some limits…even when scanning to high resolution….

No, not Christmas, not quite yet…but more like the time when fall colors are almost gone, trees are bare, and when it is not completely cloudy or rain is falling, you might get a few reminiscent shades of pale colors, this the time where you start to wish for the snow, but it won’t probably come for yet a few weeks, in the meantime, rain, cloudy and mostly grey are on the menu…for the next few weeks…

Ma seule visite là….My only visit there…

Sudbury, Ontario, vue des airs / view from above; 080-05_1985-10-xx-R

Flying over Sudbury, Ontario, important mine center, and also housing a fairly large francophone community, but I only did fly over, never set foot there, this is one of the highest stack in the country I think, then acid rain was a big environmental preoccupation, and tons of pollutants were emitted in high altitude contributing to the problem, but at least in this case things got better…hopefully the same will come for global warming, but i doutb it strongly…and you can also see some holding lagoons were mineral residues are stocked, giving an out of the world look to some of these sites, sometimes it can be almost beaufitul if you forget where these things come and the effect they have on the Environment.
