Choses du passé…Things from the past…

Going through my old pictures, I found this one, taken in 1982, my old tape cassette reader, I don’t think there is many of those around today, but at least it is not as vintage of the dreadful 8 tracks cassette, cutting a song right in the middle to change track, I remember listening to Dark side of the Moon, by Pink floyd and having the song cut in the middle and hearing the noise the reader was making changing track…:)

Coups de semonce….Warning shots….

Chargez! feu! Load! Fire! canon, Winnipeg, 1982-10; 045-03_1982-10-xx-R

Sometimes walking around the neigborhood make me discover a few odd things, like this vintage replica of a canon, maybe it was real, did not took any chance, not wanting to get a warning shot or something else…:)

Tritesse…Sorrowful…

Photo

We had dogs on each of the main Arctic Weather stations, and in this case, it was a very sad situation, his ‘friend’ was gone, don’t know how, but the others dogs, took over the ‘leadership’ of the pack, apparently he and his departed ‘friend’ were the pack leaders, and now he was outcast, always staying close to us, the others dogs were mean to him, I heard that after a while, he was run over by some heavy equipment, the other dogs were chasing him….seems that in that way, they are a bit like us, or at least some of us..he look sorrowful on this pic…maybe he did know what woul happen…

Bruges…la Venise du nord….Venisia of the North…

Photo

A first one of the few slides I still have with me, somehow I’ve lost maybe fifteen pictures taken a long while ago, hopefully one day I will find that they were only misplaced, not lost forever…or maybe I will go back there one day and take a few more pics of this northern Venisia, although Amsterdam could qualify too for that title…

Nouveaux albums photo…New photo album

No new pics today, no time yesterday, so a bit of moving around in the albums, copied pics from the album ‘photos du Nord’ to new albums for Mould Bay and Eureka weather stations, the link…

Mould Bay, Nunavut, 1984-07; 069-33_1984-07-xx-R

In photo only, I am not going back myself, I guess I would like to go back, but not many chance of that happening, so this one is in Mould Bay, summer 1984, that year summer did not show up there, but many low light situation, skyies changing, fog , clouds, snow moving in and then the sun was there…this pic was very underexposed, try fixing it with some software, the result…

A picture taken from a plane’s window, coming back or leaving Montreal, or maybe stopping in Toronto, can’t quite remember, it was July 1982, a bit too long gone now, at least I sure I was aboad an airplane, now and then, I did not know how to fly by myself….I wish…:)

Un peu trop mais ok…je pense…A bit too much, but ok…

Photo

Sometimes I do get a bit carried over with photoshop, trying to correct a picture, I went probably a bit too much, but ok i think

But I should also post the original pic, I may say whatever I want, but only this pic will let you decide if it is too much or not…

Main and Portage street, Winnipeg, Manitoba

Photo

Another picture while walkng along the streets of  Winnipeg for a peace march, it was 1982, and if you’re familiar with Winnipeg, you will recognize this intersection, Main and Portage street, you cannot cross this one by surface, as a pedestrian you have to go through an underground mall, here in Montreal we do have a rather large subterranean downtown area, so I guess Winnipeg has also a scaled down version of their own Winnipeg subterranean…:)
